About this build.

The Rockstar MXR was created on back of Shaw Speed and Custom’s relationship with Rockstar Energy Drink. Like Rockstars energy drink, the bike is for those who lead active and thrill-seeking lifestyles, from athletes to Rockstars.

The company who’s interest and sponsorship of adrenaline filled sports which include BMX, Moto GP and Wake boarding teamed up with Shaw Speed & Custom in 2012 to discuss a motorcycle that had their culture at the heart of the build.

Up for the challenge the SS&C team pulled apart a stock XR1200 Sportster and started work on incorporating Rockstar ideas into the MXR. Motivations for the bike include Motocross and BMX.

“We wanted to build something really cool, that would appeal to all audiences from the younger generation to those who have been around motorcycles for many years”, said Steve Willis Team Principal of Shaw Speed & Custom.

The team set to work on the XR1200 by removing both the front and rear suspension assemblies, modifying the seating area, creating a tailor-made exhaust system, front number board with incorporated headlight, relocated oil cooler and chain and sprocket conversion.

The Team also built new wheels with stunning anodised rims, wrapped with Metzelar rubber and race style brake rotors. A new belly pan was fitted like the XR1200 race bikes to continue the sports bike theme. The speedo has been machined into the handlebar pad, which was influenced by 80’s BMX.

The paint was the work of Image Design Custom who executed the “custom meets moto race style” scheme perfectly.
